22 Sep The Printomato Story
We realize that nostalgia is one of the most powerful human emotions. It’s why more and more people are pulling out their Gameboy Advance on the subway, snapping birthday photos with bulky Polaroid cameras, and spinning vinyl on their grandmother’s scratchy turntables.
People yearn for the good ol’ days—even when those days aren’t their own. It’s a beautiful paradox: we chase after memories we never had, sounds we’ve never heard, and feelings we can’t explain.
That realization was the very seed from which Printomato sprouted. It’s our ultimate, futuristic solution to a modern craving for a retro spirit. From that epiphany onward – the rest is history.
Sensing the Photobooth Zeitgeist Since 2015
The Printomato story begins with Roma Gujabidze and Gabriel Meliva – two pioneers of Georgia’s instant photo culture. They didn’t start as partners. In fact, they were competitors, leading two of the country’s most successful instant gif-maker and photo printing startups: Memogam and Giffer.
But sometimes, competition gives way to collaboration.
They joined forces and began developing business models together, driven by their shared belief in the power of capturing moments. Since then, every one of their entrepreneurial victories has centered around that single concept.
Here’s a look at their impact, by the numbers:
2,000,000 emotions captured
1,000s of brand activation events served
7 countries covered
Not bad for two guys and a dream.
A Set of Principles We Stand By
Sustainability and Safety
At Printomato, safety comes first. Every device undergoes rigorous testing and meets the highest standards. But beyond that, we’re nature-conscious—our prints don’t end up in the trash. People cherish them. They stick them on fridges, pin them on mood boards, and tuck them into scrapbooks.
Anti-Hollowness
We believe the world is too full of generic, hollow marketing. Ads should be contextual and personalized. That’s why Printomato helps brands craft meaningful, targeted offers—served in an interactive, mindful way. It’s not advertising. It’s an experience.
Boundary Pushing
Printomato isn’t just a device—it’s a cultural fusion of advertising and entertainment. Our mindset draws inspiration from the world’s great innovators. We hope to light a similar spark in startup founders, engineers, designers, and everyone else building the future.
Pricelessness
In a world that’s becoming more expensive by the minute, we wanted to create free entertainment that truly means something. That’s why Printomato photos are—and always will be—complimentary. These moments matter, and they should be remembered, not monetized.
“We don’t focus on ultra-high-resolution photography. Printomato is all about capturing and printing special moments—for free.”
— Gabriel Meliva
“With the help of Printomato, you can on one hand target location-based ads, and on the second hand – analyze your marketing activities and results in numbers.”
— Roma Gujabidze
